We read the recent article by Jones et al published in Urology with great interest.

In their single-institution retrospective chart review of all ureteroscopies, they
concluded that there was a significant difference in opioid prescribing between private
and academic practitioners, whilst demonstrating a trend toward zero post-ureteroscopy
opioids. They stated that private practice surgeons prescribed fewer oral morphine
equivalents (OMEs) initially and achieved a median of zero OMEs earlier than academic
surgeons. They noted that median OMEs decreased from 60 to 0 in the private setting
